Day by day God instructs His children. By the circumstances of the daily life He is preparing them to act their part upon that wider stage to which His providence has appointed them. It is the issue of the daily test that determines their victory or defeat in life’s great crisis. Those who fail to realize their constant dependence upon God will be overcome by temptation. Desire of Ages, p. 382

Every true disciple is born into the kingdom of God as a missionary. Desire of Ages, p. 195.

As our physical life is sustained by food, so our spiritual life is sustained by the word of God. And every soul is to receive life from God’s word for himself. As we must eat for ourselves in order to receive nourishment, so we must receive the word for ourselves. We are not to obtain it merely through the medium of another’s mind. Desire of Ages, p. 390
